Ow

Went out for a ski day yesterday with some of the former Club Med ski school guys: Scott Barney, Bill Dill, Greg Calla, Sholeh and Steve Lee. Pretty normal ski day reminiscent of the Club Med days: Spaulding Bowl and Glades, Resolution, A lift, Easy run diversion to Timberline down Windsong to get food, S lift, hike Tucker, back to Union Peak. Tucker was freaking amazing, waist deep on Freemont 1. I gave up my spot on the Cat to Bill Dill since he did not make the gate before closing. Irish, Copper Mountain local and Gaper Taunter, was also shut out and on the way up Mountain Chief we decided to hike the old pre-snowcat way to Tucker: around Jacques Ridge, traverse under Jacques Peak to the Tucker Gate then hike the rest of the way to Freemont Glade 1. That was at least 45-50 minutes of hiking and skating above 12,000 feet. Ouch but worth it for the waist deep.

Winter Training

Finally the weather has cooperated for a few days. Got out again today and was able to actually follow the electro-coach's plan. Did a bunch of cruise intervals on the lower blue.

Tour of California is on. That adds some fuel to the "I'm going to be a slow fatass if I don't get training" fire. Check out the free videos on Velonews TV if you can stand the idiots (Gatorade F*Wits) trying to sell you low calorie water.

When interviewed about the benefits of 25 calorie Propel Fitness Water, Cat 3 racer and supremely speedy Time Trialist Matt Stein had this to say, "These guys put the duh in douche."

No more slalom for the year, woo hoo!

Ok, it wasn't that bad. I skied it really conservative on both runs given I have not trained slalom. This week was combined times so I wanted to have 2 cleanish runs. That usually means you are going to have 2 mediocre runs which is always better than blowouts. This business league thing is more about supporting the team with your points than worrying about individual results.

Saw a lot of blowouts, especially on second runs. We'll see how things went at the beer party.

Astana barred from ASO events

Wow, there's a surprise. Yeah, right. So with virtually a new team and new director the French can't seem to get over it. Astana was a polluted cesspool of doping last year but with a Tour winner on the team you'd expect a little more love. Maybe this is the last hopeful attempt to get a little skinny frog on the podium. Bring back Festina!

Equal time for pussies

A whopping 5 hour weekend!

Wow, I actually got some miles in this weekend. 3 hours with the team on Saturday. This cat 3 team is going to be interesting. Everyone seems to get along and want to support each other. I have three personal goals, all of which are to support the team: pointless attacking, blocking for other's pointless attacking and sprinting. We'll see how the year plays out and what the other cat 3 teams are planning. Did I just say Cat 3 and planning in the same sentence?

2 hours on Sunday: road the cross bike out to the northern, nether-regions of Silverthorne and back. Snow and slush was the road surface as usual.

Rosebud Lounging Video

Bode Miller Rocks!

Business League race was pretty decent today. Jaime rocked the first run and ate shit on the second. We need to check the forward preasure on those crappy Markers. I did pretty much the same time on both runs. Will Tole set the course today and he apparently doesn't like to turn. I like Will's courses!! We'll see tonight how we did. Here is a funny Bode Miller video:

Lounging on daddy's lap.

France

Sometimes I like to puruse other blogs and when I find something this fantastic I have to copy the post. Found this on T3's Blog who is listed on Jared's. Please enjoy these two redneck freaks talking about France. More topics for your enjoyment after the show:

Winter Riding in Summit County at 65 degrees

Alright, if I am going to live in perma-winter I am going to need one of these. The InsideRide Super Trainer. Yup, it's a giant treadmill. Now I just need an extra $20,000.

Return of Taz Fox

He was just a kit last year and now he's back watching over the den. Maybe he's a she.
