Look at our little baby.

Not an actual baby but she doesn't crap on herself and cry at night like some others. You know who you are!

Winter Ride

In case you have been around me within the last week I have been pissy, pissy. Had a nasty cold and was not feeling like doing anything. Went out for a ride today and exercised the bug up my butt.

I can't say I didn't go at it!

I posted the ski race equivalent of the dude who attacks from the gun and gets shelled half way through the crit. Of course this all happens in less than 30 seconds per run with no chance for the sudden realization that my head might be up my ass. Blew out on the first run and DQ'ed the second. There doesn't seem to be anyone at the bottom of the course actually watching so they counted it. I told them about the DQ and it will be all over the video but somehow it got ignored. Oh well, the team will get some points. Deserved or not.

UPDATE: Officially DQed for 2nd run. That's good because it was all over the video and I can't take points for an unfinished run.

Slalom

Ah yeah, I remember Slalom. That's that ski race thing you need to train virtually non-stop. I sucked it up royally yesterday in the Business League slalom. I think we only have 2 of these silly things per season so I am not going to worry about it. For your enjoyment here is a video of Anja Pearson running slalom:

Jaime rocked the NASTAR

Jaime pulled off her first day of single digit handicaps. She had a few 5s, 6s and a 7. That means she was within 5% of the PAR time (theoretical time that Daron Rahlves, zero handicap, would have run). Since we both want to go to Steamboat for the NASTAR Nationals, we need to maintain top 3 status in the platinum divisions for our respective age groups at Copper Mountain. The best way to do that is go run NASTAR from time to time at Copper. $10 for unlimited runs.

Business League Round 2

Not sure where I wound up today for Business League. I missed the last gate on the first run; sucks because they had me at a 25.40. Apparently, the timers didn't see me miss it and then destroy it from the the wrong side. I had to tell them I was a DSQ for that one. Next run was in the upper 26 second range. Still behind Steve Jones by .5 to .9 seconds.

The course was in so-so shape with the new snow. Especially on the second run. Steve and I both were not all that happy with our times. First rule of business league, when they are taking your best run, try to make that your first one while the course is in good shape. Rule two: remove head from ass.

Next week is dual slalom.

1/11/2008 Post update: Somehow I got 10th and moved up a few notches overall. This was one race to forget.

The wind was angry!

Went out on a Boulder ride with Matt Stein, friend from MN who rides on Silver Cycling, and Collin Schaafsma, Vitamin Cottage Team homey. The wind was brutal. 3 hour ride and I am not sure we cleared 40 miles. Wow, when is race season? Time to train.

Ski Race

First Business League race ever at Copper. There are some crankin fast dudes and a roll in the middle of the course that will take some getting used to. (Don't diss my dangling preposition, homeys) I am guessing I was around 10th for single runs. Combined I might have been better. Did two runs with exactly the same time. Weird.

Felt like a total fornicated cluster on the roll both times. That should make for decent video. Party at 4:30 to watch video and drink beer. I don't know why people give Bodie so much shit. Alcohol is part of ski racing. HTFU!
