April Weather

It has snowed twice this week and true to April in Colorado, the roads are dry within an hour of it clearing up. That is primarily due to the freezing, dry 30 mph wind. Nonetheless, I will HTFU and go ride.

Glass

After two flats in two days I put the double layer in the tires. That's old tires, de-beaded and jammed into the good tires. You usually have to cut the old tires, at an angle, to fit them in there. This makes for heavier rolling weight thus you will be strong like man doing your hill repeats instead of little girly-snivelling-pussy-boy. I recommend listening to Metal during all training, especially recovery days. Keep your Madonna CDs secret and stop renting romantic comedies! HTFU!

Ski Race Season Pics

Jaime and I am are focused pretty much on bike season now, although bike season really is a year-round event. Here's some pics of what occupied us this winter.

Note to self

When I have had 1/4 mile warm up and start the gateway ride towards the front and have to pull right off the bat, I might want to not do that. An Excel guy and I had the second pull and then dropped off on the flat before Left Hand Canyon. Up the Left Hand hill a VC guy attacked and two Toyota United guys went with him. That pretty much blew apart the back of the group where I was doing my "warm up". I tried to bridge but wasn't feeling it; I wasn't alone.

So note to self: warm up before this ride in April or don't do hard pulls at the beginning with warmed up Excel guys. That's probably it for the Gateway Ride for the year since it's race season.

April in Summit

8 inches of new snow Wednesday night and today the roads are dry. That's spring in Summit.

No celebrating until you hit the line

There you have it. The pros also celebrate too early. Cavendish actually had to throw his bike unlike our 35+ friend who had enough time to look at the judges. That looks like an "ah, shit!" look on Boonen's face.

Winter

Oh yeah! Winter lives on in Summit County. Got 2 hours today on the cross bike in light snow. I'll probably suck it up and ski at Copper tomorrow for their last day then go see Matisyahu. So much for being done with ski season.

Here's a bitch fest to brighten your Thursday

Do not buy an HP laptop. This thing sucks ass and it is barely a year old. I have to admit that I was squeamish getting one with Vista pre-installed but at the time I needed a new laptop quick and cheap. Everyone says that Dell's customer service is the best. That's probably true but if you have one and have to call for support that much your computer probably sucks. I will be getting an Apple next.

Mac runs XP so there is no need to ever have another piece of shit, cheap-ass PC again. There, I have documented my daily bitch about this f'ing thing and since the blog does an auto draft-save most if this will make it before this thing crashes again.

Last Planned Ski Day

Unless something happens like getting 2 feet of fresh this week I am done for the year. Dreams of repairing my neglected NASTAR Overall National placing yesterday were killed off by the urge to ski fresh snow with my race coaches from the early 80's. These guys left Timber Ridge Ski Area in 1984 to move to Copper Mountain. One, Roland, still lives in Monument. So there you have it, bike race season unfettered.

Birthdaybud

Today is Rosebud's Birthday. She is 9 and would like her annual McDonald's Happy Meal as soon as possible.

HTFU Quote of the Month

Adult ADD is a problem when it affects the ones you love and you give a shit.

Back on the road!

Weather has been cooperative in Summit for riding the last few weeks. It's a good thing too because the front range guys have a lot of miles in them and it's time to catch up.
